As promised in earlier posts, I am gradually updating and moving across resources from my old website.

Eating Disorders: A Parents' Guide by Bryan Lask, Rachel Bryant-Waugh, Great Ormond Street Hospital Eating Disorders Clinic - An excellent guide for family and friends of ED sufferers written in a friendly accessible style by some of the leading experts in child and adoelscent EDs (amazon.co.uk) (amazon.com)

Bulimia Nervosa and Binge-Eating: A Guide to Recovery by Peter Cooper - Self-help guide for people with bulimia and binge eating difficulties. Clear and accessible style. (amazon.co.uk) (amazon.com)

Overcoming Binge Eating by Chris Fairburn - Another self-help guide which has also been successfully used in several centres alongside weekly psychotherapy. Considerably longer and more involved than Cooper's book (above) (amazon.co.uk) (amazon.com)

Overcoming Overeating by Jane R. Hirschmann and Carol H. Munter - Excellent self-help guide for overeaters of all kinds (amazon.co.uk) (amazon.com)

Anorexia Nervosa, A Survival Guide for Families, Friends and Sufferers by Janet Treasure - One of very few guides for sufferers and their carers specifically for people with anorexia nervosa. Covers crucial issues including resistance to treatment, motivation to change, medical complications, ethical issues etc. (amazon.co.uk) (amazon.com)

Breaking Free from Compulsive Eating by Geneen Roth - Highly rated book addressing the reasons behind overeating and describing many exercises for tackling it (amazon.co.uk) (amazon.com)

Wasted: A Memoir of Anorexia and Bulimia by Marya Hornbacher - Harrowing, painfully honest autobiographical account of the author's experiences suffering from both anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa (amazon.co.uk) (amazon.com)

The Long Road Back, A Survivor's Guide to Anorexia by Judy Tam Sargent - Another excellent autobiography, with a more uplifting feel (amazon.co.uk) (amazon.com)

Running on Empty by Anna Paterson - Novel for young people about friendship and eating disorders. Follows the story of three girls and how they cope with the different traumas in their lives (amazon.co.uk)

Overcoming Anorexia Nervosa by Christopher Freeman - Excellent new addition to the popular 'Overcoming' series using cognitive behavioural techniques for self help (amazon.co.uk)
