Getting funding for eating disorders research
I'm gradually getting together a list of organisations who may be able to fund eating disorder research. I'd welcome suggestions for additions to this list, either by email or by posting a comment below.
Most of these resources are UK based for now, but I'm also interested in international resources.
A good place to start is RDInfo based at the University of Leeds. This enormous searchable database lists funding organisations for all types of research and you can search by subject area, closing date, amount of award and so on. Last time I looked, they had info on 1185 different research organisations, offering a total of 3896 awards.
The Wellcome Trust and the Medical Research Council, between them fund the majority of medical research in the UK. Each has a comprehensive website describing the range of fellowships, studentships and other awards which they offer.
The Eating Disorders Association sometimes offers small grants for research
The Royal Society offers a range of grants including international fellowships and funding to attend conferences if you are presenting.
The European Commission offer a rangeof awards including those intended to increase cross-national co-operation.
The USA-based GrantsNet site contains excellent advice about finding funding as well as a searchable database and you can sign up for updates by email.
