Phd and MD studentships available across Europe
The Research Training Network INTACT (Individually Tailored Stepped Care for Women with Eating Disorders) is a multi-disciplinary network of 9 partners from 8 European countries which aims to improve health care for women with eating disorders. INTACT are offering a number of research studentships in eating disorders and related topics to qualified individuals.
INTACT aims to research and develop individually tailored treatment and stepped care interventions based around risk and maintaining factors, and the processes of getting well and staying well. The network will use a wide range of methodologies spanning genetics, neurobiology, psycholinguistics, psychotherapy process and mental health service research to internet and communication technology. The network's training program combines local specialists with network-wide training activities including individual training-through-research, secondments to other network partners, education in transferable skills, regular network meetings, summer schools and mentoring to advise trainees on career paths. In addition to the monthly salary, allowances for the transnational mobility program and for career development will also be provided.
Research projects are available for 17 PhD/MD students/research fellows (max. 4 years of research experience) on the following topics:
1. (a) Linguistic styles of women with eating disorders (b) Internet-software engineering for e-health applications (University Hospital Heidelberg, Germany; Dr. Hans Kordy)
2. (a) risk factors for development of eating disorders in adolescents and young adults, specifically in populations of North-African origin (b) development and evaluation of an internet based prevention program (Psychiatrie Universitaire CHU Saint Etienne, France, Prof. Dr. Francois Lang)
3. (a) predictors and processes of therapeutic change in family therapy for anorexia nervosa (b) development and evaluation of an internet based multi-family aftercare program (Department of Psychiatry, Charles University Prague, Czech Republic, Dr. Hana Papezova)
4. (a) Predictors and processes of therapeutic change (b) Improved understanding of the role of carers in eating disorder outcome and the development of interventions (c) genetics as a predictor of therapeutic outcome (Institute of Psychiatry, London, United Kingdom, Prof. U. 5. (a) predictors and processes of therapeutic change for bulimia nervosa (b) development and evaluation of a technology enhanced

7. (a) Neurobiology, genetics and endophenotypes in relation to treatment outcome (Rudolf Magnus Institute of Neuroscience, Utrecht, The Netherlands, Prof. Dr. Roger Adan)
8. (a) Process outcome study: predictors and process of therapeutic change for BED. (Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève, Switzerland, Prof. Dr. Alain Golay)
9. (a) Web and mobile engineering for e-health applications. Profile: Software and Web/mobile engineer with knowledge of Struts, C/C++, and
J2ME a plus. (b) Multi-media narratives for health promotion and disease prevention. Profile: Interactive design grad student specializing in flash and web animations. Language (Both Grants): good in English (NetUnion sarl Lausanne, Switzerland, Tony Lam)
