Apologies for the extended absence. The site has been down for a period of *ahem* maintenance and migration to a new server.
Good to be back

Just to let you know that our sister site, mhr.org.uk is currently unavailable due to some 'issues'. I'm trying to sort them out and get it up and running again as soon as possible, so please bear with me.

Absence

Apologies for the lack of posting over the last while. I have been busy having life events, most of them rewarding ones, all of them time consuming. Hope to get back to posting more regularly, both here and on my sister site, Mental Health Resources. Thank you for your patience!

I have had a few requests recently from people wanting to be notified when new articles are added to the site. I don't currently have automated notification set up, so in the meantime, you'll need to email me and I will add you to the notification list.

Quiet!

Sorry to have been so quiet recently. Work and life have been pretty crazy in the last month, and I've just got back from a week's well-earned holiday. So the site has suffered a bit as a result.
However, I'm planning to get a lot of new posts up in the next few days. So please check back soon.
Thanks for reading...

Welcome back

Welcome to the new look EDR. Apologies for the lack of new posts over the Christmas and New Year period, when we were struggling with technical issues relating to the re-launch.

You'll notice one or two changes about the site. One of the main ones is that posting comments now requires a brief registration process. I'm sorry for this, as I know that registering is a bore. However, over the last few months, I have had major problems with spam commenting (A bit like email spam but more public). Some days have come home from a busy day's work to literally thousands of comments advertising unsavory products and services, which all had to be deleted, a depressing and time-consuming process. So this is the solution, for now. There are a few other ways round the problem which I am exploring, so this may not be the solution we end up with.

In the meantime, please do continue commenting on articles if you are interested, or, alternatively, you can always email me with your thoughts.

Thanks for reading EDR and Happy New Year to you all

Who is EDR?

EDR is run by Lucy Serpell, a clinical and research psychologist based in London, UK.

Since 1994 I've run some kind of website of eating disorder resources on the web. EDR is the latest incarnation of this, and aims to be a clearing house for the latest ED info and research.

Songs that Saved my Life

| | Comments (0)

All this week, BBC digital music station 6Music have been running a campaign about the links between mental health issues and music. called 'Songs that Saved My Life'.

There have been items on various different shows during the week, covering issues such as the emotional impact of music, interviews with a range of musical artists about how their music and performance has been affected by their state of mind and mood induction experiments live online. Listeners have been invited to vote for their top 'Song that Saved my Life'.

This evening, Tom Robinson's Evening Sequence featured a discussion with music journalist Patrick Humphries and yours truly, talking about the tortured artist in music. You can listen to the programme between now and next thursday on the Evening Sequence webpage (click on 'Listen to Thursday's Programme')

Update, 18/3/04: Unfortunately, you can no longer listen to the programme on the BBC website as they only keep recordings for 1 week. But links to mental health resources and helpline details are still available.

I did quite a bit of research before the programme and wanted to mention a few of really good resources I came up with.

How to contact EDR

I welcome suggestions for additions to the site. I'm particularly interested in the following:

Info about conferences in the field of eating disorders and related areas
Suggestions for newly published books and journal articles for review
Links to resources elsewhere on the web, particularly those which are UK or Europe based

I look forward to hearing from you all
Lucy
